Mara Serena Safari Lodge

PLAN MY TRIP

Set on a hill with sweeping views of the Masai Mara National Reserve and the Mara River, Mara Serena Safari Lodge provides comfortable accommodations and a front row seat for the annual great migration.

Designed to mirror a traditional Maasai village, all seventy-four rooms have private balconies with views into the distant African surroundings. The manyatta-type domed huts are situated in circular groupings with Maasai-inspired colors and furnishings. Each room features twin or king-sized beds, writing/vanity unit, and marble en suite bathrooms with walk-in showers. The luxurious Mara Suite is perfect for honeymooners or V.I.P.s. The suite’s spacious bedroom has a king-sized double bed. There is also a separate sitting area, a large marble bathroom with a shower and bath, and two balconies. Plus, a dedicated room steward takes care of guest’s needs.

The lodge is located right in the heart of the Mara Triangle within the Masai Mara National Reserve. Every July to November the annual great migration takes place when millions of wildebeests and thousands of zebras and Thomsons gazelles flood the savanna in search of new pastures with their predators hard on their hoofs. As the herds thunder across the Mara River, waiting crocodiles snap a chance at a meal.

It is no surprise that activities center around the three daily game drives. Specially adapted vehicles whisk adventurers across the plains and along the riverbanks in pursuit of the legendary African wildlife. Ninety-five species of mammals live in the Masai Mara including lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants, and rhinos as well as 550 species of birds. The Reserve also boasts a plentiful array of monitor lizards, baboons, vervets, blue and red-tailed monkeys, nocturnal bush babies, and tree hyrax. Guided nature walks take a detailed look at the flora and fauna here. Other activities include hot air balloon safaris, sundowners, and breakfast next to the hippo pool.

There are plenty of delicious dining opportunities including buffet breakfasts and lunches. There are three theme nights to look forward to: pasta, Mongolian, and Kenyan. Also on offer is a selection of local musicians, live bands, or local traditional dancers. The lodge has an extensive wine list. The Maisha Safari Spa and Gym has wide menu of relaxing spa treatments. The refreshing pool and sundeck are ideal for a relaxing afternoon. Other hotel extras include a gift shop, business center, babysitting, family rooms, children’s menus, and free Wi-Fi.
