Eagle View

PLAN MY TRIP

Resting atop an escarpment overlooking a remote area of the private Naboisho Conservancy, Eagle View is an award-winning eco-friendly lodge.

The lodge is a celebration of minimalist design that highlights the beauty of its natural surroundings rather than taking from them. Accommodations here consist of nine rustic tents set atop wooden decks. Each spacious tent comes with comfy twin or king beds that look onto magnificent views of the savannah. The en suite bathroom features a double vanity, a bio-flush toilet, and both an indoor shower and an open-air safari shower. The tents also include an elevated dining area and private viewing deck fitted with camp chairs so guests can revel in the views of the savanna and Koiyaki River.

The lodge is located in a remote part of the 200,000-acre private Naboisho Conservancy on the border of the larger Maasai Mara. The Conservancy boasts not only a higher density of animals than the Maasai Mara but one the highest concentrations of lions in the world. Around one hundred of the big cats live here. The area also has an impressive number of elephant, giraffe, wildebeest, and zebra as well as the rare and elusive African wild dog. Moreover, the Conservancy provides a vital corridor for the little-known Loita Migration, which sees up to 5,000 wildebeest and 1,000 zebra move though the area annually from the Mara Reserve to the Loita Plains in the east.

Morning and afternoon game drives take in the conservancy and neighboring Maasai Mara. Nighttime game drives discover the antics of the area’s nocturnal inhabitants. Because of the conservancy’s exclusivity, it lacks the heavy foot traffic of the other reserves for a quiet and uncrowded adventure. Leisurely one or two-hour bush walks are tailored to guest’s desires and explore the plains on foot, discovering the flora and fauna missed from the vehicles. At the end of the afternoon game drive, guests can refresh themselves with a cocktail while soaking in the glories of an African sunset.

Eagle View is one of National Geographic’s top twenty-five eco-lodges in the world and the only one found in Kenya. The lodge’s airy restaurant serves up scrumptious meals created by local Maasai chefs and served alongside a spectacular view of the local waterhole. Bush dining is an unforgettable way to enjoy a chef-created meal in the heart of the wilderness accompanied by a glass of fine wine while watching the local Maasai people sing and dance. The remoteness of the lodge means its best for children ages 7 and up, but there is a Kiddie Club and babysitting services available upon request.
