Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge

PLAN MY TRIP

Set against the majestic, snow-clad peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro, or '"Kili" as it is affectionately known, Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge offers luxury accommodations under the shadow of the “rooftop of Africa”.

The lodge is at the heart of Maasailand, and its décor pays homage to the bright colors and shapes of these warriors. Accommodations at the lodge consist of ninety-two Maasai Manyatta-themed rooms and suites. Each room is housed in a single-story building that opens directly on to the grounds. Each room features a hand-painted wall fresco, king-sized bed or luxurious twins, private veranda, and an en suite bathroom with a walk-in shower and vanity. Other amenities include ceiling fans, Wi-Fi, bathrobe, hair dryers, and safes.

The lodge is ideally set in the world-famous Amboseli National Park in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro. Amboseli is one of Kenya’s oldest and most-visited parks and is known for its large concentration of elephants. From its setting in an acacia grove, the lodge has breathtaking views over the African savanna and of the mighty mountain itself. The melting waters of the Kili ice-caps flow into pools that form the only sources of water for this beautiful but dry. This in turn attracts large numbers of elephant, hippo, buffalo, and plains game to the waters and wallows. Nearby, Observation Hills provides some of the most magnificent sunsets over Kilimanjaro.

Activities at the lodge include guided nature walks and game drives conducted in specially adapted open-sided safari vehicle and are the perfect way to view spotted hyenas, jackals, warthogs, olive baboons and vervet monkeys, as well as, the Big Five. Other activities include Maasai dancing and cultural displays in a dedicated and classes on Maasai beadwork, Maasai warriorhood, and Maasai tracking. Specially arranged culturally-interactive trips to local Maasai villages and/or schools can also be arranged.

The central dining area can be reached by a timbered bridge over a melt-water stream. The lounge and bar feature a broad terrace and a blazing fire-pit. The decor reflects the traditional artifacts of the Maasai people. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet-style with a wide range of international choices, while lunch menus will typically include meat, poultry, fish, and vegetarian options. The wine list offers a broad selection of old- and new-world wines, in addition to, local and imported beers and spirits, soft drinks, and freshly-squeezed fruit juices. The Amboseli lantern-lit bush dinner with Maasai warriors in traditional dress around the campfire is truly magical. At the heart of the lodge is a free-form swimming pool that is shaded by palm trees.
