Zawadi Hotel

PLAN MY TRIP

Sitting atop a cliff on the romantic island of Zanzibar, the Zawadi Hotel offers a private and intimate beach getaway.

Luxury accommodations at the hotel consist of nine spacious villas decorated in soft beige and white hues for a peaceful ambience. Surrounded by flowering bougainvillea and vistas of the gorgeous Indian Ocean, each villa features a double bed for up to two adults. A private bathroom has a shower and bath as well as a view of the beach. For even better ocean views and fresh sea breezes, guests can lounge on their private terrace. Other amenities include a writing desk, mini bar, satellite television with DVD player, and air-conditioning. The hotel can also be booked up for exclusive-use of the property.

Set on the exotic spice island of Zanzibar, the hotel boasts stunning ocean views and lush, tropical gardens. Once the world’s largest producer of cloves, this spice island also provided nutmeg and cinnamon to Europe, the Middle East, and China for over 500 years. Originally founded by Africans, the island was discovered by the Persians in the 10th century. Since then it has had a strong Arabic influence with a brief period where the Portuguese conquered the seaports, only to revert back to Arabic control. The sultan of Oman relocated his capital here. Zanzibar is actually an archipelago with two main islands: Unguja and Pemba. Besides white sandy beaches, dhows sail across the clear, turquoise waters as fishermen still ply their trade.

The hotel takes full-advantage of its island setting and offers many water sports. It is the only PADI Five Gold Palm and National Geographic Dive Centre in Zanzibar. Experienced instructors teach all levels in scuba diving and lead only six people at a time on a dive for more personalized attention. In addition, the dive center organizes daily snorkeling trips to the Oba-Oba lagoon with its wide array of small marine life and beautiful corals. Island tours explore the Jozani Forest, home of the endangered Zanzibar Red Colobus. Dolphin tours include a swim with them. For some more culture, the hotel offers a Stone Town tour to see the House of Wonders, Sultan’s Palace, spice markets, and other historic sites

The hotel features several tempting fully inclusive dining options made from the seafood, fresh spices, and local produce island is known for. The Mswakini beach bar serves snacks, lunch, and drinks throughout the day and hosts a monthly moon party. The Drift Wood dining room serves breakfast and dinner. While the Mali Mali lounge and Bar opens for cocktails and drinks just before dinner. For even more relaxation, the hotel’s professional Thai and Balinese therapists will come to the villa for a private massage on the terrace. A nature gym allows guests to run outside on a jogging trail that winds through the garden and has chin up bars, benches, monkey bars, and a special set of weights set up at regular intervals for a full-workout. The rates include accommodations, all meals, afternoon tea, in-house alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, complimentary internet in public areas, and free snorkeling equipment.
