Singita Explore

PLAN MY TRIP

Located on the majestic plains of the world-famous Serengeti, Singita Explore Camp is a mobile, private-use tented camp for roughing it in style.

Accommodations at the camp consist of six one-bedroom tents that are pitched and set up based on the requirements of each individual booking. Each tent features both an indoor and outdoor bucket shower. Large shaded verandas are the ideal spot for relaxing and watching the wildlife roam by. Other amenities include coffee/tea and dressing gowns. A public restroom is available from the main area. These luxury canvas tents offer an authentic safari experience and chance to break away from the noise of civilization to the tranquility of nature.

The camp moves around during the year to follow the game but stays within the exclusive Serengeti Grumeti area. The world-famous Serengeti takes its name from the Maasai word serengit meaning endless plains. It’s also the ideal spot to watch the Great Migration, the annual event when over a million wildebeests and about 200,000 zebra head north to the Maasai Mara Reserve in Kenya and then loop back again. The Serengeti has a diverse group of habitats includes riverine forests, swamps, kopjes, grasslands, and woodlands. It’s also home to a wide range of animals from the grazing water buffaloes, warthogs, eland, topi, gazelle, impalas and giraffes as well as their predators the lions, leopards, and spotted hyenas. No wonder the land and its wildlife were the inspiration for Disney’s Lion King.

A variety of exciting activities are available from the camp. Daily morning and evening game drives are all conducted in state-of-the-art Land Rovers, each accommodating a maximum of six guests. They are led by expert rangers with a great chance of seeing a variety of big game animals including cheetah, bearded wildebeest, bat eared fox, black rhino, Maasai giraffe, lion, elephant, buffalo, and leopard. Guided safari walks are led by a professional tracker and provide an intimate view of the savannah as well as a lesson in animal tracking. For families travelling with children, the camp hosts a variety of activities tailored to the younger crowd including archery, arts and crafts, astronomy, bush walks, mini-ranger course, and baking with a chef. Archery lessons with a professional compound bow are available for the grownups too.

The camp boasts an extensive wine cellar showcasing a premium selection of wines, including some of the continent’s most sought-after private reserves, including exclusive release, limited single vineyard, and rare auction wines. Personalized wine tastings are a popular choice with guests. The camp spa believes in a holistic and healing approach to treatments with a wide menu of relaxing options available. An all-inclusive property, the rates include accommodations, all meals and beverages with some exclusions, private guide, camp host, chef, and staff. Laundry is complimentary with a twenty-four hour turn around.
