Zambezi Expeditions

PLAN MY TRIP

Overlooking the majestic Zambezi River in Mana Pools National Park, Zambezi Expeditions Camp is luxury mobile-tent camp that provides guests with the ultimate glamping experience.

The camp consists of 6 mini meru-style tents with a total of 12 beds for a minimum 2 nights set up near the Zambezi River prior to arrival. Each tent is furnished in simple elegance and focused on comfort and features an en-suite bathroom that includes a flush toilet and an alfresco hot bucket shower. A 6-bedded camp consisting of three tents can be set up for a single group on special request. Other amenities include mosquito nets, tea and coffee, 12-volt lighting, and a comfortable lounge area. Guests can relax and take in the stunning views of the bush and riverbanks from their private, shaded veranda.

The camp is located within the legendary Mana Pools, a place known for its wildlife, rich flood plains, and magnificent views of the Zambezi River. It is a diverse area with multiple vlei lines, river systems of the Ruckomechi River, and mixed woodland types from Mopane woodland to Jesse bush and riverine forests. The name mana comes from the Shona word for four and applies to the four large pools inland from the Zambezi River. Hippopotamus, crocodiles, and a wide variety of aquatic birds are associated with the pools. Pristine and undeveloped, the camp’s location offers a pure, untouched, private African safari experience.

The camp has several exciting activities to choose from. Game drives provide exceptional views of a variety of wildlife in this game rich area of Zimbabwe including eland, elephant, African wild dogs, water buck, big herds of buffalo, kudu, lion, and leopard. Professional guides lead walking tours through the mana pools for an up-close view of the flora and fauna with lessons on how to track lions on foot. With the camp’s location so close to the river, a canoe trip is an exciting adventure with opportunities to get up close to some of Africa’s wild animals while slowly cruising down the Zambezi. Elephants, hippos and crocodiles are common sightings. The river also allows for great catch-and-release tiger fishing with guides on-hand to assist in some early morning or afternoon fishing.

The camp includes a well serviced mess tent with a dining and seating area. Powered by generator, the camp provides batter-charging services in the main area. It is the perfect combination to include with nearby Kanga Camp for an overall riverside and inland experience.
