The Victoria Falls Hotel

PLAN MY TRIP

Located in Victoria Falls National Park, the five-star Victoria Falls Hotel combines elegance with comfort and charm.

Built in 1904, the elegant hotel was recently refurbished to offer a classic yet more modern appeal with world-class service. The hotel is composed of 161 rooms of various sizes including standard rooms, deluxe rooms, signature wing rooms, four honeymoon suites, deluxe suites, executive suites, the Bakota Suite, the Royal Suite, and the Presidential Suite. While still retaining its traditional charms, each room comes complete with modern amenities including satellite television, air-conditioning, and an en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower. The suites feature extra touches like private balconies, four-poster beds, and separate bedrooms and lounges all decorated with elegant furnishings.

The lodge is ideally located in Victoria Falls National Park, and is only a mere ten-minute stroll away from the world-famous falls accessed along the hotel’s private pathway. Within the park, guests are likely to encounter herds of elephant, impala, waterbuck, and hippo as well as predators like lions, leopards, and wild dogs. Victoria Falls is one of the seven natural wonders. It straddles the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. While Victoria Falls is neither the tallest nor widest waterfall in the world, its claim as the largest waterfall is based on its combination of width and height. Together, the two create the earth’s largest sheet of falling water. For decades, the falls have become increasingly popular with the newly built Victoria Falls Town and Victoria Falls Bridge.

Visitors have many options for game viewing within the national park from open-air game drives to walking safaris. Guests can expect to encounter animals from elephant to buffalo to lion, leopard, and rhino. The hotel also offers a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. For the adventurous, there is also ziplining, white water rafting, abseiling, canoeing, bungee jumping, gorge swings, and helicopter tours at an additional fee. Horseback riding, golf, and bush dinners are some of the other fun pastimes at the hotel. Plus, there is plenty of shopping in Victoria Falls town center and the hotel’s own curio shop.

Surrounding the hotel are lush gardens, tall palm trees, and lily ponds, which provide a peaceful and private experience. The hotel also offers fine dining and dancing in the Livingstone Room, the Africa spectacular show has local tribal performances in the comfort of Jungle Junction, and there are stunning views of the Victoria Falls bridge from Stanley’s Terrace. Stanley’s Bar is a popular hot spot for a cocktail. The hotel also has a refreshing swimming pool, tennis courts, reading rooms and library, and golfing at the nearby Elephant Hills Resort.
