The camp consists of 6 meru-style tents furnished in simple elegance with 12 beds total. Each tent has en-suite bathroom facilities which include flush toilets, private outdoor showers, basins, and running hot and cold water. All rooms enjoy gorgeous views of the pan. Two of the tents are honeymoon suites, which can be converted into family units as they incorporate 2 day beds, which can comfortably sleep children and come with their own private sitting and dining areas. Guests can take in the spectacular views of the watering hole and its abundant wildlife from their own private veranda or deck.
Kanga Expeditions is situated in Mana Pools, a diverse area with multiple vlei lines, river systems of the Ruckomechi River, and mixed woodland types from Mopane woodland to Jesse bush and riverine forests. Kanga Pan itself is the only known water source in the area available throughout the year, making it a hub for wildlife and a delight to explore on foot. The name mana comes from the Shona word for four and applies to the four large pools inland from the Zambezi River. Hippopotamus, crocodiles, and a wide variety of aquatic birds are associated with the pools. Pristine and undeveloped, the camp’s location offers a pure, untouched, private African safari experience.
The camp has several exciting activities to choose from. Game drives provide exceptional views of a variety of wildlife in this game rich area of Zimbabwe including leopards and wild dogs. Though often the animals come to the camp for a true armchair safari. Professional guides lead walking tours through the mana pools for an up-close view of the flora and fauna with lessons on how to track lions on foot. An hour’s drive brings guests to the iconic Zambezi flood plains in Mana Pools National Park where the unique activities and ecosystems is not to be missed. Kanga Under the Stars is a unique and more adventurous option to sleep out approximately a kilometer from camp, where four sleeping platforms have been erected high up on wooden stilts under large wild fig trees. Besides sleeping surrounded by nature the camp furnishes a three-course dinner, and in the morning, breakfast is served before walking back to the camp.
The main area of the camp has a comfortable lounge and dining area offering uninterrupted views of a very active water hole. Guests can relax in the upper deck lounge under the shade of a mahogany or sit on the deck below near the refreshing splash pool. This eco-friendly camp uses a mixture of solar and generated power with a charging station in the main area.
