Nsolo Camp

PLAN MY TRIP

A historical safari camp, Nsolo Camp offers luxury accommodations and plenty of excitement in the game-rich South Luangwa National Park.

Accommodations at the camp consist of five elegant chalets set on raised wooden decks. Each chalet is constructed from wood and grass and stylishly designed to harmoniously blend in with the beauties of its natural setting. The spacious and high-ceilinged bedrooms come with a choice of a double bed or two twin beds. For added privacy and comfort, each chalet enjoys its own veranda furnished with comfortable chairs where guests can unwind and soak in the peace and wonders of the bush.

The camp overlooks the seasonal dry river bed of the Luwi River in South Luangwa National Park, a world-famous wildlife haven. The Park enjoys a dense animal population including Impalas, pukus, waterbucks, giraffes, and buffaloes grazing on the plains. A high number of leopards stalk the dense woodlands, while herds of elephant wade through the marshes and hippos play in the Luangwa River. However, the Luwi river itself creates a thoroughfare for leopards, lions, and wild dogs to hunt their prey who come to the seasonal river for a drink.

There are both day and night game drives available in comfortable safari vehicles and conducted by an expert guide. Walking safaris study the park in greater detail and observe the smaller animals with the aid of a guide and an armed ranger. Bird watchers can enjoy spotting some of the 400 recorded bird species in the region. Plus, the camp is ideal for its sleepout opportunities in a fly camp with all the beauties of the park visible through the protective mesh around the bed.

Nsolo was named after the honey guide bird. The camp was sited by Norman Carr in 1987 and is currently run by his son, Adrian and daughter, Pam. The main area of camp sits on its own elevated wooden deck and houses a bar and comfortable lounge with deep sofas and cozy chairs. The open-air dining space lets guests enjoy a gourmet meal under a chandelier of stars.
