Sausage Tree Camp

PLAN MY TRIP

Sausage Tree Camp is set on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River in the heart of the Lower Zambezi National Park's best game viewing area.

Sausage Tree Camp is an intimate camp that can host a maximum of eighteen guests in seven luxury suites, one of which is a two-bedroom family room. Each luxury suite has a lounge and private dining area, a large deck that faces the river, and a private plunge pool. The Kigelia family unit is composed of two en-suite bedrooms joined together by an open plan dining and lounge area with its own private plunge pool. The common areas of the camp include dining areas, a lounge, a beautiful bar, and a lap pool. From each of these places you can relax and watch the wildlife in the river.

Lower Zambezi National Park is in southeast Zambia along the banks of the Zambezi River. This massive expanse of land creates an extensive protected area for wildlife, and the park is renowned for its spectacular fauna and flora. The large charismatic African wildlife like elephant, buffalo, crocodile, hippopotamus, lion, leopard, and hyena all call this park their home. Visitors can expect to see a great diversity of African wildlife.

Game drives are conducted in open safari vehicles, and night drives are a special treat, offering the discovery of a whole new palette of crepuscular and nocturnal animals. During the cool winter months, walking safaris are a popular activity for studying the smaller animals and the vegetation of the region in greater detail, as well as learning tracking skills and medicinal uses of plants. River cruises on the Zambezi are the ideal way to spot pods of hippos, basking crocodiles, and bathing elephants. Of course, a sunset cruise is the best way to end the day. For the more adventurous, a canoe trip provides a different view of the Zambezi. And for keen anglers, this stretch of the Zambezi features some of Africa’s best fishing; you may even get a chance to hook the elusive tiger fish.
