Due to its strategic location in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp often has entire gorilla families wandering through the camp.
Gorilla Forest Camp boasts eight luxury tents, perfect for couples or families. Each tent features a traditional thatched roof, a spacious interior, stylish décor, and two comfy queen-sized beds. Included in the bathroom facilities is an oversized bathtub overlooking the jungle canopy. The panorama that spreads out below the private viewing deck is remarkable. And a personal attendant, who will see to every need, is assigned to each tent.
At an altitude of between 3,500 and 8,500 feet, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is regarded as one of the most biologically diverse forests in Africa. It is spread over a series of ridges and valleys that form the eastern edge of the Albertine Rift. The park is home to more than 300 mountain gorillas, half the world’s surviving population, and around 120 other mammal species. These include eleven primate types such as black and white colobus, red-tailed and blue monkey, and chimpanzee. Other animals include forest duiker antelopes, bush buck antelopes, rare forest elephants, giant forest hogs, and over 200 species of butterflies. Bwindi is also one of the principle birding destinations in Uganda with more than 350 bird species on record.
