Accommodations consist of eight luxury tents. Seven of the tents come with twin beds that can be converted to doubles. While the eight tent serves as a honeymoon suite and is fitted out with a romantic double bed. Every tent has an en suite bathroom with double vanities, a flush toilet, and al fresco outdoor showers. The honeymoon suite even features a decadent, deep, stone bathtub. A private wooden deck overlooking the busy lagoon provides the perfect spot to relax and watch the wildlife.
The lodge is located in the popular Liwonde National Park on the southern tip of Lake Malombe in the south of Malawi. The park encompasses 220-square miles of diverse landscapes with dry Mopani woodlands in the east and more tropical palm savannah and baobab trees in the floodplains near the Shire River. The camp sits on the banks of a lagoon which is home to hippos, Nile crocodiles, and plenty of elephants as Liwonde boasts the highest population of elephants in Malawi. Other big game animals found here include sable antelope, impala, waterbuck, reedbuck, warthog, kudu, yellow baboon, pangolin, monitor lizards, leopard, and vervet monkeys. With the highest year-round bird watching in Central and Southern Africa, Liwonde enjoys over 400 bird species.
Daytime game drives are conducted by an expert guide in a 4WD safari vehicle. While night time drives explore the nocturnal habits of hyena, owls, civets, genets, and various species of mongoose as well as a sundower on the banks of the Shire River. For a closer view of the river itself and its ample game and bird life, a river cruise with a refreshing drink is the ideal place to be. Guided bush walks take in the smaller flora and fauna with lessons on the medicinal uses of the various plants. For a cultural visit, guests can explore the nearby villages and Nanthomba School for a closer look at local life. The camp has its own water level hide providing a close up look at the rhinos, elephants, and other animals coming for a drink.

In fact, the name mvuu means hippo and there are plenty of these rotund creatures wandering in and out of the water. There is also a dining room, pub, and refreshing swimming pool.
