Accommodations at the lodge consist of twenty-three elegant rooms and suites divided between five charming wooden villas. The one-bedroom comes with a king bed or two twins and includes a cozy sitting area with a fireplace, an en suite bathroom with both a shower and stand-alone tub, and a furnished balcony. The spacious two-bedroom suite features a king-sized bed in the master bedroom and two twins in the second room. It also comes with an stylish living and dining room, two en-suite bathrooms, and a private deck. Additional amenities include a mini bar, LCD television, and air conditioning.
The lodge is located of the edge of Nyungwe Forest National Park which encompasses 602 square miles of rainforest, bamboo, grassland, swamps, and bogs. The forest is in the watershed between the basin of the Congo River to the west and the basin of the Nile River to the east. Nyungwe is one of the world’s most beautiful and pristine mountain rainforests and believed to be one of the oldest as well. There is a wide diversity of animals in the forest including thirteen primate species such as chimpanzees, Angola colobus monkeys, silver monkeys, golden monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, Vervet monkeys, and olive baboon. In fact, the forest is home to one of East Africa’s last intact populations of chimpanzees and boasts two wild chimp communities that tolerate visitors.
