The standard and family rooms come with either double bed or two twin beds and a luxury en suite bathroom with a separate bath and shower. The largest of the freshwater lakes in Rwanda, it empties into the Ruzizi River. Lake Kivu lies on the Albertine Rift making it part of the Great Rift Valley. Due to its position on the rift, it is slowly being pulled part causing volcanic activity as evidenced by the hot springs which ring the lake’s shores. This “exploding lake” is home to many species of fish including barbus, clarias, Nile tilapia, and Tanganyika sardine.

Walking safaris and hikes around the lake are the best way to get an up close and intimate look at the local flora and fauna. The hotel can also help arrange game drives for exploring the nearby national parks. Day trips can all be booked to go sightsee Empakai Crater. Moreover, the hotel is only an hour’s drive away from Volcanoes National Park and the famous mountain gorilla treks.
