Welgelegen Boutique Guest House

PLAN MY TRIP

Occupying two Victorian-built houses, Welgelegen is a boutique hotel conveniently located on a quiet street in Cape Town.

Welgelegen Boutique Guest House has thirteen individually styled and well-appointed en-suite rooms featuring Wi-Fi, air conditioning, complimentary homemade cookies and fresh fruit. Most rooms have a balcony or terrace with mountain views. The Mini-Deluxe Rooms are cozy with a double bed and en suite bathroom with a shower. The larger Deluxe Rooms come with a king bed, romantic fireplace, and an en suite bathroom with both an open plan travertine bath and a shower. The Superior Rooms feature king beds that can convert to doubles, an en suite bathroom with a bath, shower, and heated towel racks.

Welgelegen is nestled at the foot of Cape Town’s Table Mountain and is within striking distance of trendy Kloof Street and its shops, boutiques, and restaurants. The hotel is also just minutes away from the famous shopping center and working docks of the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, known as the V & A. Originally founded as a provision station for Dutch ships on their way to the East Indies, this part of the Cape Town has many beautiful buildings and important sites from this period including the Castle, the Slave Tree, and even traces of the wild olive hedge planted to keep the wildlife out.

The Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden contains protected natural forest and fynbos along with a variety of animals and birds including over 7,000 species of plants. Whale watching and adrenaline-fueled shark cage diving are also popular activities. Of course, Table Mountain provides panoramic views of the Mother City, Robben Island, and the Peninsula and can be accessed by the cableway or a hike to the top. There are plenty of hiking and biking trails at the top and visitors can even abseil or tandem paraglide off the sides. Cape Town also enjoys many world class beaches. There are also excellent excursions to the outstanding Cape Winelands. In addition to which, the hotel is happy to arrange day tours to Cape Point or visits to the penguin colony at The Boulders near Simonstown

The hotel’s common areas include a spacious sitting room and library that lead to a large breakfast room. The breakfast room lets out onto a cobbled courtyard and a plunge pool. An in-house therapy room offers the weary traveler many relaxing spa treatments including pedicures, deep tissue massages, detoxifying massages, lymph treatment, reflexology, and body buffing with their own secret range of oils and salts.
