Signature: Namibia Family Safari July 2020

PLAN MY TRIP

JOIN PIPER & HEATH ON OUR SIGNATURE FAMILY SAFARI TO NAMIBIA IN JULY 2020!

Join Piper & Heath founder and owner Chris Liebenberg, his wife Emily, and their two boys on this ten-day, family-friendly overland safari through Chris’s motherland. The Liebenbergs are passionate about sharing Africa with their kids and have designed this safari especially for families with children!

The journey begins with three nights in the historical coastal towns of Swakopmund and Walvis Bay. Enjoy Sandwich Harbour, quad biking, sand boarding, a night critter walk, and more as you explore this dramatic coastal environment. This will be a great start to our tactile driven experience with a focus on teaching the youngsters about the micro-fauna of the desert and the wondrous interconnectivity of species. There will also be discussions on colonialism, cultural development, and Africa’s different socioeconomic perspectives.

The next stop is Damaraland, where we’ll spend two days searching for desert elephants and other megafauna and learning more about the integral role the local communities plays in conservation efforts.

We’ll then drive across the land of the Himba to Etosha National Park. Etosha is one of the oldest and largest national parks in Africa and is nearly unrivaled in wildlife densities. Budding photographers will have lots of opportunity to hone their skills, and, with a constant parade of wildlife, there will be many opportunities for in-depth conversations on wildlife and conservation.

The finale of this journey is a visit to the Cheetah Conservation Fund. We’ll visit the research facility and learn about their fantastic efforts to protect the cheetah. On this final night in Namibia, we’ll enjoy a traditional braai (barbecue).

This family-focused group trip will run July 11-20, 2020.
