Mara River Post

PLAN MY TRIP

Mara River Post is a luxury safari camp boasting elevated views of the Mara River in the Northern Serengeti.

Accommodations at the camp consist of eight spacious tents facing west and twelve facing east for stunning views of the river and savannah. The large canvas tents come with a bedroom with two twin beds or one king bed. The dressing room alcove includes an en suite bathroom featuring a vanity sink, flush toilet, and shower. Every tent enjoys a private veranda with panoramic views.

The camp is situated in the Northern part of the Serengeti along the Mara River and is famous for being the site where the Great Migration crosses the river into Kenya. Herds of millions of wildebeests amass along the Mara River on their way from the Serengeti savanna before heading into the plains of the Maasai Mara. All the while snapping crocodiles and grunting hippos lie in wait for the herds to traverse the shallow waters. Perfectly positioned, the Mara River area remains game-rich year-round. Zebras, lions, leopards, buffaloes, and elephants can constantly be spotted in the rocky kopjes and riverine forest.

Daily game drives led by expert guides and trackers in comfortable safari vehicles take guests on an adventure to not only view the annual Great Migration but a chance to see some of the Serengeti’s 70 large mammal species such as hyenas, African buffalo, warthogs, Grant’s gazelle, eland, waterbuck, and topi. Bird watchers will revel at the chance to see some of the area’s 500 bird species including woodpeckers and brightly colored kingfishers.

At the heart of the camp lies the restaurant built on a solid dry stone wall and boasting great views of the Mara River. Next to the restaurant guests can find the bar where they can enjoy a refreshing cocktail and relax in the lounge after an exciting game drive. The environmentally friendly property uses solar power and stores its rainwater.
