Kilindi Zanzibar

PLAN MY TRIP

Located on the romantic spice island of Zanzibar off the coast of Tanzania, Kilindi Zanzibar is a luxury boutique hotel originally designed for Abba’s own Benny Andersson.

The hotel perfectly blends Scandinavian minimalism with Middle-Eastern architecture. This sumptuous hotel consists of 15-domed Pavilion Suites offering a ‘Cool Air’ air con system which provides an oasis over and around the bed. In addition to which, the windows are glassless and fitted with wooden shutters to allow the sea breezes off the Indian Ocean to waft through the room. Adjoined by a walk way, a separate shower room features a refreshing rainfall shower, his and her vanity wash basins, a toile,t and all with gorgeous views across the gardens to the ocean beyond. Guests can enjoy the added luxury of their own private plunge pool and deck. Other amenities include an in-room safe, laundry service, air conditioning, fans, fridge, and room service with a dedicated butler.

Set on the exotic spice island of Zanzibar, the hotel boasts stunning ocean views and lush tropical gardens. Once the world’s largest producer of cloves, this spice island also provided nutmeg and cinnamon to Europe, the Middle East, and China for over 500 years. Zanzibar is actually an archipelago with two main islands: Unguja and Pemba. Besides white sandy beaches, dhows sail across the clear, turquoise waters as fishermen cast their lines and ply their trade.

There are plenty of activities to choose from at the hotel. But water-based activities take advantage of the archipelago and Indian Ocean location. Guests can choose from scuba diving, snorkeling, jet skiing, water skiing, and sailing catamarans. There’s plenty of fish in the sea, perfect for deep sea fishing and fly fishing. The safari blue dolphin tour cruises to Minai Bay Conservation Area on a traditional white sailed dhow for a chance to spot dolphins at play or snorkel through a coral reef before feasting on a seafood barbecue. Sunset dhow and catamaran cruises are the perfect end to an evening. Spice island tours to spice farms are a great opportunity to see, smell, and taste the history of Zanzibar. For more culture, tours to Stone Town take in the local market, churches, Sultan’s palace, and House of Wonders to name a few of the historic sites.

The main pavilion of the hotel overlooks the large 25-metre infinity pool which itself affords views out across the sparkling warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Guests can enjoy the ocean breezes and a drink at the waterfall bar. Dining takes place either on the alfresco terrace or even along the pristine white beach. The delicious food served here often includes fresh seafood dishes and internationally inspired cuisine infused with local spices and flavors. For further relaxation and pampering, the Kilindi Spa tucked away in a peaceful garden setting has a variety of luxury spa treatments to choose from.
