Faru Faru Lodge

PLAN MY TRIP

The warm, charismatic style of Faru Faru Lodge often surprises guests with its botanical theme, barefoot elegance, and picturesque setting in the breath-taking and game-rich Serengeti.

Accommodations consist of eight open-style suites and one Villa Suite with luxurious amenities. Each suite boasts an en suite bathroom with both a bath and a romantic outdoor shower. Other features include a reading area, generous picture windows, a personal bar and fridge, a private deck with a Swarovski spotting scope, and more. The Villa Suite is designed with two identical double bedrooms and a large, shared lounge and dining area, and is suitable for families or couples traveling together. Also, there is a dedicated family suite ideal for a family of four. Altogether, Faru Faru can accommodate twenty-two guests.

The lodge is situated in northern Tanzania in the Grumeti Reserve and forms part of the Serengeti Mara ecosystem. This area on the western part of the Serengeti National Park, Africa’s number one world heritage site, is known worldwide for its spectacular annual wildebeest migration. Every year millions of wildesbeests and thousands of zebras and Thomsons gazelles flood the grassy plains in search of new pastures. Of course, the predators are not far behind including large populations of lions, leopards, hyenas, and wild dogs. The 350,000 acres of Grumeti Reserve’s is mostly untouched wilderness and hosts a massive wildlife population including twenty-five species of large carnivores, forty species of herbivores, and over 500 species of birds.

Activities at the lodge center around the twice-daily game drives conducted in 4×4 vehicles with professional guides. A community tour visits the Environmental Education Center for lessons on understanding the Serengeti Ecosystem. Guided safari walks take a closer look at the flora and fauna. The lodge even offers archery lessons with a bow for children and a professional compound bow with arrows for adults. Other activities include mountain biking and out-rides starting from the equestrian center in the nearby Sasakwa Lodge. For an additional fee, there are hot air balloon safaris across the Serengeti Plains.

The main lodge area features a dining room, bar lounge, DVD player, library, outdoor barbeque, and boutique. A Swahili-inspired beach and two heated, rim-flow swimming pool which bend and curve, mimicking the lines of the watering hole below are the perfect spots to unwind. In addition, elevated viewing decks offer panoramic views of the watering hole and surrounding Grumeti Reserve. Modern, cutting-edge design blends with comfortable furnishings, resulting in a unique, contemporary style. Guests delight in the bamboo furniture, soft linens, raw canvas, bleached wooden decks, neutral colors, and mekaka matting.
