Dunia Camp

PLAN MY TRIP

Perfectly located in the central Serengeti, Dunia Camp is a semi-permanent camp that is tucked away just north of the Moru Kopjes and within a major corridor for the great migration.

Accommodations at the camp consist of eight spacious and luxurious tents including one family tent. Each tent comes with a king-size bed with two twin beds available upon request and contemporary furniture. The family tent has a king-sized bed and separate section with two twin beds. The en-suite bathrooms have flush toilets and hot-water bucket showers. In addition, each tent has a large, raised, private veranda on which to relax and from which to enjoy superb game viewing and glorious vistas.

The camp is located in the heart of the world-famous Serengeti and has access to the three game-rich areas of Seronera, Moru Kopjes, and the southern Serengeti plains. The nearby Seronera River is a big draw for the wildlife. The elevated granite shelves of the Moru Kopjes are a favorite with the lions who scan the plains from their raised vantage-point for prey. It is also a place where endangered black rhinos are often spotted. Of course, the biggest draw to the area is its position for the great migration. Twice a year in May to June and November to December millions of wildebeest and thousands of zebras, topi, and Thomsons gazelles pass by the camp as they search for new grasslands to graze on.

Twice daily game drives led by expert guides in either open or closed 4×4 vehicles depending on the weather are a perfect way to see the wildlife, with rhino and big cats being particular attractions. Warm blankets, rain ponchos, and fridge for cold drinks keep everyone comfy while tracking the animals. There are even private safari vehicles available for families with four or more people. But the bird-watching from Dunia Camp is equally spectacular. For the adventurous traveler, Dunia Camp is close to Seronera which offers hot-air balloon safaris for a romantic and aerial view of the stunning Serengeti below and a champagne breakfast to top off the morning. Bush breakfast, picnics, and bush dinners are also available.

The heart of camp includes a mess tent made from canvas and weathered wood. Brass hurricane lanterns, old leather armchairs, and elegant linens add to the charm of the tent. A cooked breakfast is served on the deck overlooking the plains. Lunches are either a light-buffet or a picnic. While the day ends with a silver-service dinner. An award-winning camp, Dunia works hard to leave the least possible footprint upon the land.
