Tengile River Lodge

PLAN MY TRIP

Perched over the Tengile River and nestled against the lush forest, Tengile River Lodge offers magnificent views and sumptuous accommodations in the famous Sabi Sands Game Reserve.

Accommodations consist of nine modern thatched suites that look out over the river from their vaulted heights. Each air-conditioned suite features an elegant, airy bedroom with open views of the river and landscape as well as a spacious en suite bathroom with all the modern conveniences. The family suite cleverly converts part of the living space into a children’s bedroom at night. Moreover, every suite comes with the additional luxuries of a sunken outdoor lounge and private lap pool set into the wide wooden deck.

The new lodge is situated in the beautiful Sabi Sands Game Reserve which shares thirty-one miles of unfenced land with the world-famous Kruger National Park. Together the two parks form a conservation area of almost five million acres, roughly the size of New Jersey. It is an area famous for the wide diversity of its wildlife including the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo. Set between the perennial Sand and Sabi Rivers, the Sabi Sands Reserve comprises 160,618-acres and boasts one of the highest and most bio-diverse populations of any reserve in Africa. The Reserve feature no less than 145 mammal species, 500 bird species, 110 reptile species, 30 amphibian species, 330 tree species, and 45 fish species.

There are plenty of exciting activities available at the camp. Daily game drives are conducted by a ranger and tracker team in open 4×4 safari vehicles and present to opportunity of spotting one of the elusive leopards that Sabi Sands is known for. Strict rules on vehicle limits ensure an exclusive game-viewing experience. A walking safari led by an armed tracker takes a more intimate look at the flora and fauna of the Reserve as well as giving lessons on animal tracking. For photography enthusiasts, a special photographic safari is available. Expert guides will use their knowledge of shutter speed, lenses, filters, lighting, and more to help guests get the perfect shot of the wildlife and landscape of Sabi Sands.

The main area houses an open, spacious lounge, restaurant, and bar area featuring wide windows and awe-inspiring views of the river and forest. For some additional relaxation between activities, the lodge has a beautiful and modern gym and spa featuring an impressive range of pampering massages and treatments. The kid’s can even enjoy their own WildChild massage. Babysitting services and complimentary Wi-Fi are available too.
