Lüderitz Nest Hotel

PLAN MY TRIP

Sitting above the sea and its own private tidal beach, Lüderitz Nest Hotel is a relaxed and friendly hotel with excellent sea views and service.

Accommodations at the hotel consist of seventy air-conditioned and heated rooms and luxury suites that all enjoy a lovely sea view. The Comfort Twin, Comfort Double, Deluxe Twins, and Deluxe Double rooms come with either two twins or one queen bed with an extra-large duvet and an en suite bathroom. The Comfort Family Room consists of two interconnected en suite bedrooms with four three-quarter beds and free cots. While the Luxury Suite features an extra-long king-bed, a separate lounge, an en suite bathroom with both a bath and shower, and large balcony. Every room and suite comes with a flat-screen T.V., Espresso machine, mini fridge, and free Wi-Fi.

The hotel is located in Lüderitz, a charming and small harbor town in Southern Namibia. Europeans discovered the area in 1487 when Portuguese explorer Bartolomeu Dias erected a stone cross on what he called Angra Pequena or small bay. In the 18th century, Dutch scientists came here to search for minerals. Then in the 19th century, Heinrich Vogelsang purchased the town for Adolf Lüderitz of Germany, and the town was named in his honor. The discovery of diamonds in 1909 brought a new wave of people to the area. Today the town is known for its colonial architecture and wildlife including seals, penguins, flamingos, and ostriches.

The Halifax Island Catamaran Tour explores one of Africa’s largest marine protected areas including the second largest African Penguin colony and the only spot in Namibia to see penguins in the wild. The Kolmanskop Ghost Town Tour takes guests on an adventure back in time when the area was at its heyday for diamond mining. While, the Lüderitz Peninsula Tour examines the varied landscape of black rock, empty expansive beaches, and the wild Atlantic that is unique to this region. The Lüderitz Town Tour is great for learning about the history of the town and seeing its two most famous German designed buildings: the iconic Felsenkirche and Goerke Haus. An exciting 4×4 tour travels through rocky and dune landscapes.

The hotel’s private tidal beach and walk-on jetty allows guests a chance to get close-up to the sea. There are two on-site restaurants that serve international and South African cuisine, as well as delicious Lüderitz oyster and west coast rock lobster. The large pool and sun-deck with loungers sits between verdant gardens. While the sea-facing sauna helps guests unwind.
