Namibia

House on Olof Palme

PLAN MY TRIP

Located on quiet Olof Street in the upscale Eros neighborhood of Windhoek, House on Olof Palme is a stylish and comfortable B & B devoted to providing true Namibian hospitality.

Accommodations at the hotel consist of seven lovely double rooms. There are also family rooms which are made up of standard double rooms connected by a door. Each room is elegantly furnished and comes with an en suite bathroom. Other amenities include a hair dryer, individual air-conditioning, free wireless and broadband connectivity, satellite television, and mini bar.

This charming B & B is situated on the outskirts of Windhoek where the local birds and even kudu can be found, yet still remains close to city center. Once a German colony, vestiges of Windhoek’s colonial heritage can be seen in the proliferation of German buildings scattered throughout the city. Frequently used as a jumping off place for Namibian safaris, the city offers its own exciting sights such as Christuskirche, the old Lutheran church; the National Gallery of Namibia; the craft market in Post Street Mall; and the unique beer garden at Joe’s Beer House since the city is the brewing capital of the country.

For the more adventurous there are plenty of tours and day-trips available from Windhoek. There is horseback riding in the hills outside the city. Katutours offers guided bike tours through the culturally and historically rich township of Katutura near Windhoek. The Hofmeyer Walk is an impressive trail through the Klein Windhoek Valley and takes hikers through the bushland for spectacular views of the city and a chance to see the aloe plants whose blooms attract many bird species. A small capital city by global standards, it is growing by leaps and bounds and known as a very clean city.

The property includes a comfortable lounge with a library. Other homey and attentive touches of this owner managed B & B include a healthy breakfast buffet to start the morning off right and a hot beverage tray. There is even laundry service available upon request.
