Little Kwara Camp

PLAN MY TRIP

Little Kwara Camp is an exclusive destination located within the game rich Kwara Concession, bordering the Moremi Game Reserve on the northern edge of Botswana’s iconic Okavango Delta.

Accommodation at the camp consists of five tented chalets built on timber platforms for up to ten guests. Each tent has its own en suite bathroom featuring a bath and an inside and outside shower. These large chalets come with a private, shaded veranda for relaxing and taking in the stunning views of the Delta. Little Kwara Camp shares the 675-square-mile private Kwara reserve with its sister Kwara Camp.

The camp is situated in the Kwara Concession within the Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known as the “jewel of the Kalahari,” the Okavango Delta is one of the world’s premiere ecosystems. The private concession includes 650 square miles of stunning landscape and borders the Moremi Game Reserve. The Kwara Concession has a wide diversity of habitats, ranging from the clear delta waters with reed-lined lagoons and channels to open grasslands to mopane woodlands to palm-fringed islands. The camp is situated on an island in the shade of ancient trees.

The featured activities at Kwara are the daily and nightly game drives led by a professional guide and a tracker. But there may be nothing more awe-inspiring than observing wild animals while on a unique walking safari. The watery terrain is perfect for both mokoro, a traditional dug-out canoe, adventures and motorboat cruises enjoying the spectacular birds, shy antelope, majestic elephant, hippo, and crocodiles living here. Fishing in the lagoon and river channels is a unique experience. There are several tilapia species including the olive bream or nembwe, red breasted tilapia, purple faced largemouth, and three spot tilapia, as well as catfish, African pike, and the mighty tiger fish.

The camp’s main area is under canvas and encompasses a bar and lounge with oversized rattan chairs and comfortable sofas. A large open-sided dining area offers great views. The plunge pool beckons during the heat of the day. While the fire pit often hosts breakfast and dinner. A light breakfast is usually served before the morning activity, while a more substantial buffet brunch awaits guests returning from the morning game drive. Afternoon tea is served with biscuits and other tasty dishes before the afternoon/evening activities, and then an excellent dinner is enjoyed after dark.
