Botswana

Great Wilderness Journey

PLAN MY TRIP

Harking back to the age of the great explorers, Great Wilderness Journey rediscovers the beauties of Botswana’s and the breathtaking Victoria Falls.

A minimum of two guests is required to begin the adventure with a maximum of eight to keep the journey intimate. The 10 nights /11 days from journey from Livingstone to Maun is available in May, June to October, and November. The Great Wilderness Journey starts with the world-famous Victoria Falls on the Zambian side of the Zambezi River. Then the journey takes time to experience and explore Botswana’s scenic northern areas, from the blue-green wetlands of the Okavango Delta to the diverse and wildlife-rich Linyanti and Chobe River systems.

Day one begins from Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, Livingstone, Zambia with a transfer from the airport directly to world-famous Victoria Falls for a guided tour and views of the wild Zambezi River. Days two-four begins with a light aircraft flight from Livingstone to Kasane just in time for a river cruise to see elephants, hippos, and pukas. From the Chobe River it’s a short flight to Linyanti private concession for some excellent game viewing. Days five-seven start with another short flight to the Santawani Concession for some excellent game drives and bush walks to see leopard, lion, wild dog, cheetah, giraffe, and elephant.

Next, days eight – ten take in either Jacana Camp or Xigera Camp in the world-famous Okavango Delta viewing the abundant bird species and wildlife including a mokoro ride in a traditional dug-out canoe steered by long poles. Finally, day eleven sees guests depart by aircraft to Maun airport.

All accommodations during the journey will be in tented camps designed to evoke the old-style camping feel with modern day comforts. The first night is spent at Toka Leya Camp, a classic camp with 12 spacious en-suite safari-style tents. The camp’s dining, lounge, and bar areas plus infinity pool are perfect for relaxing. The next two nights are spent at Linyanti Tented Camp. The eight spacious canvas tents feature wooden wardrobes and trunks reminiscent of old-world tents plus en-suite toilet and shower, wide comfortable beds, mirrors, fans, and decks chairs for modern comforts. The next two nights at Gomoti Tented Camp are spent under acacia trees in five spacious tents and includes a thatched dining area and lounge. The last two nights are spent at either Jacana or Xigera – both classic camps added luxuries like a splash pool or hammocks. All meals, daily actitivites, local drinks, and laundry are included in the rates.
